Sorry. Many of my readers might get me wrong — or, on the contrary, may get me completely, accurately right. But when I saw this picture, the first thing that came to my mind was what valuable commodities young male and female slaves from the Caucasus were for so many centuries, from the Byzantines to Mamluk Egypt to Safavid Iran, right down to the end of the Ottoman era.
The kid’s a star. Rolling Stone knew exactly what they were doing.
