One thing that makes flamenco so sublimely beautiful is that sometimes it’s a little ridiculous. But they get away with it. So much of it is “uncanny” — like Freud’s “unheimlich” — weird, excessive, unexpected, switching constantly between tragedy, violence, desire, anger and humor and with a structure and rhythm impossible for payos — meaning us lesser beings non-gypsies — to completely follow. It’s always a mind-f*ck.
Watch at the end for the woman in the yellow scarf. It’s nuts.
