Because Turks ruined their side of the Aegean:
1.) by asking us to leave…
2.) with huge hotel complexes while Greek islands still have a small-hotels-and-private-homes, small-restaurant-and-bar funkiness and intimacy that’s more attractive.
…which is why Turkish hipsters have descended like vultures on the small-scale remnant Rum-ness of Tenedos.
…most galling: that Tenedos has become a Turkish wine terroir after Yörük settlers ripped up the departing Greeks’ vineyards because they were haram.
