He always appears in these “hottest people in the world” lists. I taught “Streetcar…” for years and even if my students gasped when he first came on screen, if they didn’t find Stanley Kowalski to be a thoroughly revolting human being by the end — violent, insecure, ignorant, a pig — I would consider my job undone. And I always find the facile celebrating of his personage and “sexiness” to be mildly disgusting.
